Life Assurance

Your mortgage is likely to be the biggest credit commitment you have in your lifetime and this debt ensures you and your family have a home to live in.
It’s very important to consider what would happen to your loved ones if you were to pass away during the mortgage term. Could they continue to pay the monthly mortgage payment, and the associated costs of running a household, on just one income? In many cases, the answer to this question is no, you should therefore consider a life assurance policy to protect the mortgage.

Protecting your family

A life assurance policy will pay out a lump sum payment on the death of the policy holder. The lump sum payment would be equal to your mortgage balance and would be payable for a defined period of time, to match the mortgage term. The policy will pay out should you die within the policy term. There is no cash in value; return of premiums or payment if you survive the policy term.

With the mortgage paid off, it might still be a struggle for a surviving partner to pay the bills and the cost of growing children, on one or no income, and so we will also explore the options of family protection with you.

Paying you

This type of protection can either pay a lump sum payment or a monthly income to help cover the lost income from the deceased partner. The policy will cover a set period of time and it might be appropriate to match the term to an age when any children become financially independent.

We will discuss all of your options with you in a clear and concise way, without any jargon, to help you make informed decisions about your needs.
